Welcome to the Scottish Sensor Systems Centre
Funded by the Scottish Funding Council, this initiative is a collaboration between eight of Scotland’s leading universities and industry to undertake joint industrial / academic projects into sensor systems.
Use this site to examine the very latest sensor systems research which has adopted a hierarchical process to sensor systems in order to deliver value across the whole sensor information stack. Learn more about our hierarchical systems approach that captures activities, from the initial measurement through to the presentation of complex information.
Areas of interest
Terrestrial
Smart grid, defence, intelligent transport, healthcare, drug discovery, manufacturing and process control.
Subsea
Commodity measurement, preventative maintenance, production monitoring and control, exploration.
Our areas of interest are broadly split into Terrestrial and Subsea. Activities undertaken within each area impact across a wide range of markets, many of which have significant areas of overlap. The underlying requirement of all the market segments is to sense a measure parameter, process, communicate, and convert that data into information that is good to assist in decision making processes.
The future deployment of densely populated sensor networks will allow vast amounts of data to be collected and converted into useful information. It is this transformation of data into useful information that particularly interests SSSC.
